Supporting volunteer and staff training and skills development is key to safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults and in fulfilling the purpose of SVP in delivering quality services to people in need.
Following the recruitment of a new volunteer or employee mandatory training in safeguarding is implemented appropriate to the role the person is undertaking. This training includes awareness of attitudes to abuse, safeguarding legislation and best practice guidance, definitions of abuse, reporting a concern in SVP and the role of the Designated Liaison Person, information about SVP’s code of conduct and safeguarding policies and procedures.
